Description
Chain standard: the chain in this kit is hot-dip galvanised DIN 766 short link (our supplier builds to DIN 766 only). It has to match your gypsy. If your windlass runs BBB or G4 high test chain, DIN 766 will not feed properly, so message us with your windlass model before you order and we will check it. Rope and chain are cut to order and cannot be returned.
This Rope Chain Kit 1/2″ x 250ft Rope + 1/4″ x 15ft Stainless Steel Chain, spliced together into a single ready-to-deploy rode. The nylon section stretches under load to absorb shock from wave and swing, while the chain section adds weight near the anchor for better holding angle and abrasion resistance along the seabed.
316-grade stainless steel chain resists corrosion and staining even in saltwater moorings, and keeps a bright, matched look alongside stainless deck hardware. The 1/4″ chain size is matched to work with windlass gypsies and drum winches built for that chain diameter — check your winch’s spec sheet before ordering to confirm fit.
Suited to boats that want more total rode length than an all-chain setup allows without adding excess weight in the bow — a common choice for cruisers who anchor in a mix of depths and want the stretch and lighter handling of rope for most of the rode, with chain doing the work near the anchor.
