Straight answers to the questions boat owners ask us most often about how their details are handled when they order from Windlass Central.

Is my card information stored on the Windlass Central website?

No. Card payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s secure checkout fields and never pass through or sit on our servers, so we can’t see them and don’t store them. If you pay by bank transfer, we receive confirmation of payment only.

Why do you need my phone number to place an order?

International couriers require a contact number on every consignment. FedEx and DHL use it to confirm delivery details, and customs authorities may need it to clear your shipment, particularly for windlasses and chain travelling from Melbourne to the US or Europe. We don’t use your phone number for marketing.

What information is shared with shipping carriers and customs?

Only what’s needed to deliver your order: your name, delivery address, phone number, email for tracking updates, and a description and value of the goods for the commercial invoice. On Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) orders, this is also how import duties are calculated and prepaid on your behalf. Carriers handle this information under their own privacy policies.

Do you use Google Analytics or other tracking tools?

Yes. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are read, which products are compared, and where checkout is abandoned. We use this data in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify individual visitors. You can opt out at any time through your browser’s cookie settings or Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

I'm outside Australia. Does this Privacy Policy still protect me?

Yes. We apply the same standards to every customer, whether you’re in Melbourne, Miami, or Marseille. If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you can make the same access, correction, and deletion requests described above, and we’ll respond in line with the privacy rules that apply where you live.

How do I unsubscribe or ask for my data to be deleted?

Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. To delete your account or personal data, email hello@windlasscentral.com from the address you used to order and we’ll action it within 30 days. The only exception is transaction records we’re legally required to retain, which are kept securely and used for nothing else.
